On June 12, 2025 Carter Smith drew his final breaths and his spirit left his body returning it to the earth.

Throughout his 50 years of creating, his dyes and blood became one and his body started to reflect his shibori pieces ultimately taking him over. He has dyed more than 50,000 thousand pieces and lived a hundred lives.
